Frequently Asked Questions
What is a balaclava?
Not to be confused with the Middle Eastern dessert, the balaclava is a type of headwear that covers your entire head and neck, leaving space for your eyes, also referred to a ski mask. Think of it like a combination of hat and scarf, but lighter weight. It’s perfect for hitting the slopes or on a chilly winter hike.
What is snood and how to wear it?
A snood is a type of neckwarmer that’s great for the snow or frosty winter weather. It’s basically a tube of fabric that you wear around your neck and face to keep you warm and cosy.
To wear a snood (also known as neckwarmer, neck buff, multi or neck gaitor), simply pull over your head and down around your neck. You can also wear it up over your nose and mouth for added protection in bleak conditions.
How long should a snood be?
When deciding how long your snood should be, there’s no hard and fast rule. Ideally, your snood (also known as neck gaitor or neck warmer) should be long enough to comfortably cover your neck and potentially pull up over your nose if it’s feeling frosty outside.
Can you wash a ski mask?
Yes, you can wash a ski mask, however while we want you to have a fresh and odour-free mask for your next ski trip, it’s also good to remember that frequent washing can have negative effects on our natural spaces.
If you can, choose to spot-clean or air-out your mask between wears. If it is in dire need of a wash, be sure to check care instructions first to avoid shrinking or damaging the material.
